Well the results are in from Terri Schaivo’s autopsy, and frankly it doesn’t look good for either gravedigger-come-lately Joan Didion, or “renowned heart surgeon” (and even more renowned cat killer) Bill Frist, who back in March took time off from his duties as Senate Majority Leader to examine a video confected by the woman’s parents and challenge medical authorities who had declared Mrs. Schaivo to be little more than a wilted Ficus :
But as we now learn, Frist, Didion, the Schindlers (Terri’s parents and brother), Randall Terry, Jesse Jackson the Bush Administration, both houses of Congress and the Catholic Church were, uh. . . mistaken
Not that mere truth has ever stood in the way of anyone who refused to dealwith it:
“We are, at this point, examining every option and no decisions have been made,” Gibbs said.
Michael Schiavo’s attorney, George Felos, said his client “was pleased to hear the hard science and evidence of those findings.”
“It’s a hard fact, it’s a scientific fact that Terri Schiavo was blind,” Felos said. He said Michael Schiavo plans to release autopsy photographs of her shrunken brain in the near future.
In Washington, White House press secretary Scott McClellan said that the autopsy results did not change the president’s position on her case.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with her family and friends,” McClellan said. “The president was deeply saddened by this case.”
And we all know what this means, don’t we folks — more cable “news” fodder to sate the Michael Jackson-deprived.
Sad, really, to think of the career Terri might have had in Cartoons or Science Fiction, or maybe even Historical Drama and that’s not to mention that all-important Bio-Pic with Sissy Spacek uttering that signature Terri line, “I don’t think there’s a girl floating in a jar anywhere who’s as happy as I am.”
But let’s leave the last word on Schaivomania to a Bush Administration Supporter who truly knows whereof he speaks.
