“Is Robert Gibbs the most hapless press secretary ever?” Joe My God asks.

Quite likely.

But that’s not really the point. As the Delightfully Fierce Ana Ortiz points out, speaking of one of our other enemies —

That goes double for Barry.

And yes, you read that right: other enemies.

He’s not our friend and we’re seriously deluded if we continue to imagine that he is.
Oh yes he’s very clever just look at what he said at Notre Dame

“The gay activist and the evangelical pastor may both deplore the ravages
of HIV/AIDS, but find themselves unable to bridge the cultural divide that might
unite their efforts.”

See how neatly it’s done, folks? We are put on the same footing of those who seek to destroy us, and have stopped at nothing in their multifarious attempts to do so. Though this rhetorical slight-of-hand we come to be viewed as just like them.

The implication is as plain as day. It’s OUR responsibility to “bridge the cultural divide.”

Not theirs.

And certainly not his.

So why do we persist in seeing him as our friend?

Let’s just say it’s a question of. . .character.

Sing us out, Gavin —
